It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Miles, a beloved husband, father, and friend, on the 27th January 2024 at his home in Eccles. He was 87 years old.

Born in Salford on 3rd May 1936 , Michael led a life filled with purpose, compassion, and a deep commitment to his community. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his warm heart, unwavering generosity, and his love for his family.

Michael was a devoted husband to his wife Majorie for 54 years, and together they built a life based on love, trust, and companionship. He was a doting father to Mark, Paul, David and Rosie, providing them with guidance, support, and a strong moral compass that they will carry with them throughout their lives.

Professionally, Michael was a dedicated civil servant, where his colleagues regarded him as a source of inspiration and knowledge. He made significant contributions in his role for the council, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to benefit future generations.

In his free time, Michael was an avid football fan and a proud City supporter, often sharing his passions with friends and family. He had an insatiable curiosity and a zest for life that was infectious to those around him.

Michael’s kindness and compassion extended beyond his immediate circle, as he was actively involved in various charitable endeavours. He dedicated his time and resources to making the world a better place and touched the lives of countless individuals.

A memorial service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held on 19th February at Peel Green Crematorium. Friends and family are invited to join in remembrance and pay their respects to this remarkable man.

Michael Miles leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, kindness, and service to others will continue to inspire us for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cancer Research, as a tribute to Michael’s dedication to making a difference in the world.

Rest in peace, Michael. You will be dearly missed, and your spirit will forever be with us.

Michael was the best of people. Loved nothing more than going up to the pub for a pint to watch the match. RIP my friend.
